History
Pilates was developed in the 1920s by the legendary Joseph H. Pilates. The Pilates Method is a series of five hundred exercises performed on specially designed equipment that engages the mind and conditions the entire body. Pilates focuses on strengthening the core abdominal muscles and deep muscles that support the spine in order to build strength and stability from within. Focusing on concentration, control, flowing movements, breathing, centering and precision, the Pilates Method is designed for any age, body condition or fitness level.

"Physical fitness is the first requisite of happiness. Our interpretation of physical fitness is the attainment and maintenance of a uniformly developed body with a sound mind fully capable of naturally, easily, and satisfactorily performing our many and varied daily tasks with spontaneous zest and pleasure." -Joseph H. Pilates
